A Question From Doris

Please I have a question . If you are given an essay to write on good communication skills as quality of mentorship. Do you need to go into details on the types of communication ?

thanks
Doris

I think you need to speak with your tutors, who set the essay, about the amount of detail they are looking for. It also depends on the length of the essay. My approach would be to write and introduction that briefly and generally outlines good communication for mentoring. Then, in the body of the essay, specify the types of communication shown to produce the best outcomes and detail those. Finally, write your own conclusions and insights based on the merits (or otherwise) of the types of communication you have described. However, as I said, your best results will come from talking with whoever set the essay, about their expectations. After all, being clear on outcomes and expectations is a crucial part of mentoring and other forms of learning and development.
