One of the
biggest thrills of my career was in 1993, when a hero of mine, Professor Leonie Still,
quoted me in her book, Where To From Here? The Managerial Woman In
Transition. She used a comment from my newsletter about Half Way To Equal, the
Government’s report on women’s representation in the workplace, where I said:
To me, the
report is a story of women’s journey. It seems like a trek, and having reached
the top of a steep incline you pause to catch your breath and adjust your
backpack. You look back to see how far you’ve come, then forward to find you’re
still on the foothill; the mountain is still ahead!
It’s a quarter
of a century since I started working in the area of career development for
women. I do hope it’s not another quarter of a century until we have equity for
all!
